Synopsis (Dramawiki): Senna, 24 (Kimura Takuya) is a college graduate who dreams of becoming a world class pianist. He teaches piano at a local piano school. Minami, 31 (Yamaguchi Tomoko) is an out of work model. On her wedding day, she gets dumped by her fiance, and loses all of her savings, which she gave to her fiance. Her fiance turns out to be Senna's former roommate. She rushes to Senna's apartment and finds out that her fiance has skipped town. With no money, and no where to go she moves in with Senna. Senna likes Ryoko (Matsu Takako) who is a sophomore in college. He likes her a lot but just doesn't have the courage to ask her out. Koishikawa (Inamori) is Minami's best friend and is also a model. She provides much of the comedic relief in this show. Shinji (Takenouchi Yutaka) is Minami's younger brother who just happens to be better than Senna at piano. He opens a bar/nite club. Rumiko (Ryou) plays Shinji's girlfriend. Sasaki (Morimoto) is Senna's professor at college and is always encouraging Senna to perform at the next piano competition. Long vacation is about Senna Hidetoshi Kimura Takuya, a pianist who can't express his feelings, and Minami Yamaguchi Tomoko, a model who isn't really popular.

Nina-dono's comment : Well, I like this drama because it’s such a warmhearting story. Both (the main character) feel that they failed in life and dreams. Sena with his piano and Tomoko with her model job. I love to watch how they encouraged each other, especially the part when Sena plays the song Close to You for Tomoko (it’s so sweet). For those who expect a lot of action, this drama can be a bit boring though because the story progress is sometimes kind of slow. But I love it anyway =) Happy watching………

eveningstar201 02-10-2009 23:20:31 Please don't be put off by the fact that this in an older drama. It is a CLASSIC and you will truly regret missing out on it. Sena is a young pianist who dreams of becoming a professional performer. He is talented and his technique is brilliant but he is unable to transmit the emotions of the pieces he plays to the audience. Unable to overcome this barrier, he doesn't compete and teaches music to bored and uninterested children. Minami is a model whose is approaching her "sell by date". Once a successful model, at 31 she is no longer getting any jobs. Both of them feel that they are not going anywhere in life and they are stuck in the same place and have no control or future. Minami says in the drama that they are taking a "long vacation" from life (which is where the title of the dramas comes from). These two very different people meet when Minami, in compelte bridal outfit, knocks on Sena's door looking for her fiance who lived there. It turns out he has jilted her at the altar and run away. With no place to live, Minami moves in with Sena. The two clash very loudly. Despite their age, Sena is the more introverted, cautious and unwilling to take risks while Minami is boisterous, cheerful and reckless. However the imoact that they will have on each other's lives will change things for them forever. As I said before, this is a classic. If you are looking for love triangles, long-lost siblings, terminal diseases or opposition from the families as in most drama, look elsewhere (ok, maybe there is a bit of a love triangle). This is not your typical drama. A lot of people have complained that it is slow but if you can look beyond the pace and the slightly dated look, you will find yourself captivated. The characters are realistic and touching. And the soundtrack is truly exceptional. You won't regret taking the time to watch this.

An7Hyun831 11-23-2008 06:15:05 One of the best romantic comedies out there period. Some people might be a little weird about the way too cool mid-90's fashion, but the actors are superb. I was really annoyed with Minami in the beginning (esp the part where she embarrasses Sena so much that he loses his temper), but my heart squeezed at the end of Epi 1 with the piano scene and I couldn't stop watching it. The development of Minami and Sena's relationship is really subtle and beautiful. I feel like both characters have so many facets to them that you can't ever get bored. Also, I gave a stronger belief in the saying, "Opposites Attract" after watching this drama. The comic relief comes in the form of Momo-Chan, and Matsu-san plays the perfect typical asian drama "good girl." I prefer Minami for Sena, though. But then again, I preferred Kim Sam Soon for Jin Hun in MNIKSS so I prefer the more relate able female lead. Anyway, I totally recommend this drama for laughs, tears, and GREAT romance.
