~~ SilentRegrets.Com Frequently Asked Questions ~~

Note: Please read through the FAQ and Rules carefully before posting in the comments area. If a viewer does not follow these directions, your comment may be removed and you may be banned from further postings.

1. Q: Why cant I comment on your site? It wont let me anymore.
A: Only registered members are allowed to leave comments on the site. Once you register for an account you will be allowed to comment on any of the posts.

2. Q: How do I download from your site?
A: Each posting has links. You should be able to click on each of those links. If the file is on my server, a dialogue box to save the file to your computer should come up. If you dont see the box, right click on the link, then choose "save target as". Then you should be able to save the file to your computer.

If the file is located elsewhere, such as megaupload, when you click on the link a new browser window should open. If not, right click on the link and choose "copy shortcut", then paste the link into your browser window manuaully.

3. Q: How do I download on megaupload?
A: When you have the link to the megaupload file that you want to download, enter it into your browser window. Near the top of the page, where the megaupload logo is you will be asked to enter in a 3 letter verification code. Type it into the box, and click the button. Megaupload requires that non premium members have a waiting period of about 45 seconds before they can download a file. On the top right hand side of the page you should see the counter. Before the count down is complete, an advertisement may come down and block the advertisement. You will just have to click the X button on the advertisement, then you will see the link again. Click on the link when it is ready. Your download should start shortly after.

4. Q: I see a "Download limit exceeded" message when I try to download from megaupload. What's the problem?
A: Non Premium Members are limited in the amount of bandwidth they can use in a certain length of time. Once you have reached that limit, you will have to wait a while before you will be able to download again. However there are now ways of getting around this.

5. Q: I'm having problem downloading from MegaUpload. It says "All download slots (2500) assigned to your country (xxx) are in use. Please try again later." What shoud I do?
A: For some unknown reason, it is either MegaUpload has limited some Countries download bandwidth, or you're behind a proxy server (which I doubt that you're using one).

There are a lot of solutions but the quickest one is to install
USDownloader or RapGet by using multiple proxy servers. These utilities will help you bypass the download limitation.

You can download USDownloader here or here
You can download RapGet here or here

USDownloader/RapGet can be used with any free share services such as RapidShare, SendSpace, filefactory, etc.

IMPORTANT: Even though these are mentioned here to help I DO NOT give direct support on these programs. You will have to search on your own for any Walk Throughs, and Troubleshooting problems if you should need it.

6. Q: Will USDownloader/RapGet solve any problem related to download limit (60 minutes wait) with MegaUpload/RapidShare?
A: Yes USDownloader/Rapget has a proxy server list option for that. Adding a proxy server to the utility will help you bypass all limits. To search for free proxy server list, go here

7. Q: I cant figure out how to use the USDownloader. Can you tell me how?
A: Jerry's created a guide for those who cant figure it out. Feel free to download it:

USDownloader Tutorial or Mirror

Again:  Even though these are mentioned here to help I DO NOT give direct support on these programs. You will have to search on your own for any Walk Throughs, and Troubleshooting problems if you should need it.

8. Q: I receive a 503 error when I try to download a file. Why?
A: You will receive a 503 error when you attempt to download more than one file at a time from my server. When your current download is complete, you will be able to download another one.

9. Q: But im not downloading more than one file. What should I do?
A: Wait a few minutes before clicking on any links again. The server may be detecting your IP more than once.

10. Q: How do I view subtitles?
A: Make sure the media file and the subtitle file are in the same folder as eachother. Double check to see that the file names are similar:

example.avi
example.srt

If you are still unable to view subs, it may be that your missing the proper codecs to view subtitles on your computer. Try installing vobsub.

11. Q: How do I view rm and rmvb files?
A: Try going here for a tutorial and help.

12. Q: What media player should I use?
A: This definitely depends on personal preference. I use Windows Media Player. I find that BSPlayer, and VLC Media Player are very good players as well.

13. Q: What codec am I missing?
A: That depends on what your trying to accomplish. I use Combined Community Codec Pack, and rarely run into a codec issue with any file.

14. Q: There are a lot of codec packs, which one is best?
A (Jerry): Each codec pack is okay. Personally, I used the Storm Codec, there's everything needed to play all related media files. Storm Codec includes:

- RealPlayer 10.5 Core Codec & ActiveX 6.0.12.1348
- RealMedia Splitter 1.0.1.1
- QuickTime 7.04.80 Core Codec & ActiveX (Including AMR & H264 in MOV Support)

15. Q: Where can I download the Storm Codec Pack?
A: Get the latest Storm Codec here: Storm Codec

16. Q: I can hear sound but there is no video, why is that?

AND - OR
17. Q: I'm having a codec error or codec cannot be found while playing the video file, what should I do?

A: Make sure you have ONLY one codec version installed OR the latest one. Multiple codec installation corrupt the codec ax file. Removing the old codec and install the latest codec should solve the problem.

18. Q: Can you upload X file to X place? I cant use megaupload.
A: No. I dont take these kind of requests. Even though you may be able to download better from another service, it may be bad for someone else. Simply put, whats good for you may be a bad solution for others. Its impossible for me to fufil everyones preference. Therefore I will use the best option for me. I use megaupload b/c I have a premium account there. They allow http uploads, which allows me to upload my files directly from my server. If there is a popular file on my site, and I feel it necessary to create mirrors, I will choose the location. Any requests asking me to upload it elsewhere will be ignored.

19. Q: How do I view the files that are in parts?
A: OK, some files on this site are split into parts. Read the post carefully to see if the part files were split by using hjsplit. If so, you will need to download hjsplit, and use the joiner option to combine the files. Make sure that you download all parts first (do not rename them). Place them into the same folder. Open hjsplit. In the input area locate the .001 file. Once you have located and selected the .001 file, you can start to join the file. Hjsplit should automatically detect the .00X files in the folder.

20. Q: I cant locate the .001 file in hjsplit. Whats going on?
A: Sometimes some peoples computers save the .001 file as a media file by adding an extra .avi to the ending of it. This will allow ONLY the first part to play in a media player, but you will find that none of the other parts will play. You'll have to rename the .001 file to end with the extension .001 by simply removing the .avi that was added by your computer.

Now for those who do not know how to rename file extensions, please follow the following instructions:

1. Go to the folder where the media files are located

2. In the folders toolbar choose the following options Tools -> Folder Options -> View

3. In view toward the bottom you will see  Hide extensions for known file types. UNCHECK that box.

4. Click Apply, and OK

5. Now proceed to renaming the .001 file. Remove the last .avi that was added to the file so that the file ends with the proper extension.

6. You should now be able to locate the .001 file in hjsplit.

21. Q: What are mirrors?
A: The mirror links are alternative options for you to download the file from. I may occassionally upload files to places other than megaupload. I'll sometimes upload files to places such as sendspace, or filefront. You will then have the option to download the file from one of these other places. (do not request for mirrors)

 22. Q: What is the difference between hardsubbed files and softsubbed?
A: Hardsubbed files have subtitles embedded directly into the media file, whereas softsubs are external subtitle files (.srt, .sub) that will need to be in the same directly as the media file and (if you have the proper settings) will load automatically when the media file is played.

23. Q: When clicking on one of the download links at megaupload I see the message "The file you are trying to access is temporarily unavailable." Can you please re-upload the file?

A: "Temporarily Unavailable" means just as it says. The error is usually generated when there is a problem on one or more of the megaupload servers. When the problem is fixed at megaupload the link will return. It can take an hour to a few days. But the link will indeed return. I will not take time to re-upload such files because they will eventually come back. If and only if the links are down for an extended period of time will I consider replacing them.

24: Q: I received an error saying my log in was blocked and to contact the administrator. What happened?
A: Did you fully activate your account? Everyone must first activate their account by clicking on the link sent to the email they signed up with. Without clicking on the link, your account will not fully activate. For those that do not see it in your inbox, please also check to see if your provider marked the email as spam. If you do not receive an activation email contact me (with the email address you signed up with) and i'll look into it.

25: Q: Can I upload your files onto sites like youtube and crunchyroll?
A: No. This is no longer allowed. Please do not upload any files that you download from here onto any of those services or anything like it.

I will add more to this file periodically.
